PTA/FOB MINUTES JANUARY 2010
PTA
Former minutes approved and posted on the FOB website,
Treasurer's Report $3535.47 Potential expenses of Tshirts $180.00
Holiday Gift Baskets
16 families were recipients and picked up the goods. Pedro was terrific in communicating with families and making arrangmentss for pickups.
Monday Morning Coffee
Coffee is served for $1.00 a cup and we are trying to find a way to be more efficient and looking for options for sales rather than brewing at home and transferring into a carafe at the school. School brewer take a half hour to make.
Jamba Juice Cards
Looking into distribution of Jamba Juice Cards; 10% return to Beethoven, 2% return to National PTA.
FOB
Expense Report
Last month balance of $28,000.00 Debits include payment for flowers for staff at holiday and gift cards for Anthony and Pedro.
Book Fair Report
Held off on reporting the outcome until Michelle Gardner is able to give the group an update.
Visual Arts
Supplies and donation are requested for the PS Arts Program. We are asking what the specific needs are and then will request from parents for offers of donations to keep this active program engaging our children.
Afterschool Programs
Theatre, soccer, dance, art (recycling materials) and a martial arts class are offered. Planning on a pay-as-you-go soccer class for all ages and considering clay, yoga and hula hoop in the spring.
Intervention
Days to be determined but may be on Mondays and Wednesdays. This is a program for academic underachievers and it is scheduled for 20 hours, one hour each afterschool through May.
Movie Night
Ideas for movie night and dates were suggested. If anyone has family friendly movie ideas please let the group know. There will most likely be an early February movie night,
Car Show
The date of the car show is set for April 17. Ashley Halverson and Mark Sukal are chairing the commitee and working the details. Consideration of a chili cookoff and entry fee. Flyers will come out shortly.
Fitness Challenge
We need to raise money to conitinue our psycho motor program and the proceeds from the Fitness Challenge go towards that. This pays for one class per week. We need volunteers on the day of the event to man each station and donations of waters and oranges are appreciated.
Silent Auction
We're looking into venues fo the Silent Auction and the Santa Monica Womens' Club has their space available for $400 for four hours. Dates may include May 1 or May 8. Possibly charge $12 per person or pay for food separately. Discussion continues as to whether this includes a silent auction, dinner dance party and bingo night; all under consideration.
CSA
Organic fruits are veggies are still delivered to the school on Thursday as part of the market basket program. More participants are welcome and can pay weekly or in advance. Bring your own bag.
Beethoven Night Out
Souplantation in the marina is the next venue for dinner out and will be held on Wed, January 27.
Winter Program DVD
The DVD is a long process of editing and merging files so Gloria appreciates everyone's patience. She hopes it will be ready in about a month.
Relay for LIfe
This is Beethoven's 3rd year and it is a 24 hour walk-a-thon on May 15 adn 16. Details will be sent via the Buzz but we are interested in getting as many participants as possible to join the Beethoven Girls Scouts. Celebrate Birthdays is the theme.
5TH Grade Valentine's Day Grams
The 5th grade will be selling candya and balloon grams. Flyers will be distributed. Grams are $.50-$1.50 and selling to parents students and friends. Flyers will be sent home and students can also purchase sales before school the week of Feb 8. Proceeds pay for culmination activities.
5th Grade Food Sales
Most every Friday (if not a Friday movie night) the 5th grade parents will be selling food at the auditorium gate. $1.00 for whatever treat is for sale and proceeds go towards the 5th grade culmination.
Student Council
January 29 will be Freaky Friday and all students are encouraged to participate wearing crazy hair or crazy dress.
