THE BEETHOVEN BUZZ FOR THE WEEK OF DECEMBER 14, 2009
     Author:  admin
     Dated:  Wednesday, December 16 2009 @ 07:59 AM PST
Friends of BeethovenBREAKING NEWS...BEETHOVEN'S WINTER HOLIDAY PERFORMANCE IS THIS THURSDAY! There will be two shows, 8:30AM and 1:00PM so please take an opportunity to see your child perform (and visit the book fair before or afterwards!) This will be a wonderful day of performing from all students and all grades! This year's program focuses on Friendship. The Play - THE RED SHOES - performed by 5th graders is about two friends and choices. Also, the 3rd graders will perform a version of the famous NUTCRACKER SUITE which we have re-named NUTCRACKER SWEET! It is a 5 minute version you won't want to miss! 4th and 2nd graders are highlighting the event with friendship songs and themes. Our 1st Graders will cheer up even the cloudiest of days and our multitude of kindergartners will be playing sugar plums and toy soldiers! It'll be a memorable event worthy of photos, cheers and applause!

DESTINATION BOOK FAIR--READ AROUND THE WORLD! The Beethoven Book Fair is here all this week through DECEMBER 18. This is the 'Buy One Get One Free' Book Fair. The Library will be open during recess, lunch and for an hour after school (except Friday when the book fair will close after lunch.) Please contact Book Chair Michelle Gardner directly @ art4mny@ca.rr.com if you can volunteer some time to staff the book fair,
help children select books, etc. Stop by and purchase great gifts!

SCHOOL'S OUT FOR WINTER BREAK Wishing everyone on safe, happy and healthy holiday. There will be no school from DECEMBER 21 through JANUARY 10 with students returning on Monday, JANUARY 11.

JAVA MONDAYS The Coffee Cart will be selling coffee at the Monday assembly. When we return to school in January, remember to bring you dollar and grab a cup of coffee while listening to the assembly announcements. Proceeds go to the school; coffee goes to warm you!

SANTA SIGHTING AT BEETHOVEN If you went to see Santa at Beethoven last Friday night, check out this link to order photos: http://partybyfive.smugmug.com/Santa-Sightings-at-Beethoven/2nd-Annual-Santa-Sighting-at/10610814_gLCFh#737851698_kkFSk Tahnks again to Gisele and the local Rotary Club for organizing this.

GET STAMPED! WESTSIDE PAVILION purchases are redeemed for points for our school. Shop now and log your receipts in January for double points. Toys-for-Tots Drive is now through DECEMBER 21. Drop off a toy donation ($10 minimum value) outside of the Disney Store and earn 500 points for each donation. Points are then redeemed for gift cards and we use them for attendance awards!

COPIES AT SCHOOL Parents, if you need to make copies at school, please
check with the main office about the availability of the copier before
use. There is a copier queue that takes precedent and you may be
referred to the copier in the Parent Center. If anyone has access or
can donate services to make copies of school flyers, please respond to
    the Buzz. Thank you, Ashley!

LOST AND FOUND COATS All coats left at the Lost and Found will be taken
to the One Warm Coat Drive. This is the last chance to pick up Lost and
Found articles before everything gets donated.

CUB SCOUTS Remember this THURSDAY, DECEMBER 17 is One Voice. Look for email with details from your scout leaders. Please plan on attending this event as it is a very joyful and fulfilling experience.

JANUARY IS VALET MONTH FOR 2ND GRADE PARENTS All 2nd grade families are asked to staff the morning valet in January. You will be contacted by your room parent to sign up for a morning. Your help allows students to get onto campus safely. YOu can even drop by (7:30-8:10AM) without signing up as help is always needed. Parents, please DO NOT PARK IN THE VALET ARE (even for a moment) as your car will be ticketed! Parking patrol has been seen in the area.

RECYCLING Drop off your aluminum cans and plastic bottles (#1 and #2)

TIP OF THE WEEK Trying to find little ways to save time? Try buying all white towels. Keep the color ones for accent decor but routinely use all white towels. They are easy to batch, wash in bleach and they can give your bath a spa look. Let color invade other areas of your life!

YOU'VE BEEN STUNG Hats off to Michelle Gardner, as you've been stung! This is Michelle's busy time of the year as she chairs and organizes the terrific book fair and she also coordinates the food collection drive for the cub scouts as well as tending to scout meetings. Books and boys have been keeping her busy yet she finds time to support Beethoven at just about every event over the last six years! Yes, SIX years! Michelle is a 'go to, get done' person and we thank you, Michelle, for giving to Beethoven and making this a great school for our children!

Have a wonderful holiday break from one Beethoven family to another,
    Cheers, Elizabeth R. Palser
